Voice: Everyone Has One

I had one English teacher in high school that just wouldn't give me 100%. I discovered that no matter what I wrote, be it an essay or a creative writing assignment, I always ended up missing a point on voice. I never quite understood what she thought was missing; what voice wasn't there.

One day I got it. While reading something that I wrote, I caught a strand of my voice. It was in something that I wrote about that meant a lot to me. There it was, the sound of my heart like a melody on the page.

You have a voice, too. And I don't just mean on paper; not everyone is made a writer with a clear voice there. What were you made to do? Where does the melody of your heart come through clearly?

Maybe your voice comes out among your fellow athletes. Maybe it comes out in the photos you take, or your artwork. Maybe it comes out in your business deals, or your interaction with customers. Maybe it comes out when you teach children or just mother them. Whatever you were created to do, that is where your voice comes out.

Never doubt that you have a voice. God created each of us with one. Listen for it - when you hear that melody coming out, you know that's what you were meant to do because that is where your voice is most clearly heard.

And most importantly, make sure that voice is lifting up to God and pleasing Him, the Creator.

As the song says...

I love you Lord
And I lift my voice
To worship you
Oh my soul, rejoice!

Take joy my King
In what you hear
May it be a sweet, sweet sound
In your ear.

Let what you do in response to what He created you to do be a sweet sound to Him.

"For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen."
*Romans 11:36*
