Restlessness

A dream that begins and entices
yet I’m woken before it ends.
A trail so clearly marked at first
                yet disappears into the brush.
A story that amazes and excites
yet the last pages are torn out.
A painting so striking and artistic
yet the artist never finished it.
A tapestry finely and delicately woven
yet threads dangle at its unfinished end.
A delicious smell leading me home
yet is blown away by a breeze and I’m lost.
A tantalizing taste of something great
yet I cannot partake of the richness.
A song that sweeps my soul off its feet
yet fades quietly away before the finish.
A future beyond my wildest dreams
yet just out of reach of my outstretched hand.

I wrote this poem because I know there is more ahead.  I can taste it, have tasted a sip – but a sip is not enough.  Once you’ve tasted of God’s Spirit and power, you can’t help but want more!  I know there is so much more planned for my life, and God will reveal what it is in His time, but in the meantime my restlessness is in it’s place.
